Our Impact

Problem/Challenge

The widespread adoption of Uncrewed Autonomous Systems (UAS) by both state and non-state actors has clearly demonstrated their cost-effectiveness and diverse capabilities in challenging traditional assumptions of guaranteed and persistent air power.

Task

An assessment of UK industrial capability and capacity was requested by the RAF Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) to support future investment plans. The UKDSC undertook analysis and produced a report in which 85 industrial/academic organisations participated. This included an assessment of overseas markets.

Impact

The study attracted interest from and has been delivered to RAF, Army, RN, FMC/StratProgs. The output is now directly supporting the Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) led End to End (E2E) challenge, which is planned to lead to future competition opportunities from FY25/26.
