Our Impact

UKDSC worked with the Maritime Capability Campaign Office, (MCCO), within the Department for Business and Trade to provide analysis of the future market opportunity in three surface ship domains, OPV/Corvette, Frigates and Destroyers.

The Maritime Export Working Group, chaired by MCCO, were developing a strategic approach for the UK surface shipbuilding capability and required an independent perspective on the identification of export markets.

Our analysis looked at:

  • Market trends and drivers.
  • Future international programmes.
  • Domain specific market analysis on top countries of focus.
  • Further ‘deep dive’ maritime analysis on two markets.

Our work was used to support discussion at the Maritime Export Working Group to identify new markets. Our deep dive analysis was used in campaign planning. All DGP members have access to the report through our Shared Information Space.

‘The Surface Market analysis undertaken by the UKDSC has been very useful in supplementing the work of the MEWG. It provided independent analysis to aid decision-making which will help position the UK for future export and collaborative initiatives. The UKDSC were responsive to our requests and delivered in a timely manner.’ Maritime Capability Campaign Office.
