UKDSC is delighted to announce that as of 1st January 2020, David Wotherspoon will be appointed as UKDSC Executive Director – Innovation. He will succeed Andrew Cunningham and will join the UKDSC executive leadership team as an ADS direct hire.
David joined the UKDSC in September 2018 as Head of Innovation and brings over 35 years of experience from the Defence and Maritime sectors. He is a Chartered Manager and holds an MBA from Strathclyde University. Following a successful military career, David went on to deliver a number of major manned and unmanned programmes. This included the successful DEEPSEA CHALLENGE expedition; designing, manufacturing and operating a bespoke manned submersible that operated at 11000 metres. I’d also like to thank Andy Cunningham for his dedication and support to the UKDSC over the last 4 years. Andy’s contribution has been vital to the successes of the Innovation team and the UKDSC, not least in aligning and securing significant innovation investment across the Defence and Civil domains. Andy will return to QinetiQ on the 1st February 2020, allowing a seamless transition with David as they both pick up their new roles in the New Year.
