UKDSC supports Sea Air Space 2023

UKDSC’s Head of Maritime, Rory O’Brien, supported Sea Air Space 2023 in Washington DC. Hosted by the Navy League of the United States and opened by the United States Under Secretary of the Navy, Erik Raven.

It is the largest maritime expo in the USA, with more than 15,000 attendees last year, and more this year. Sea Air Space aims to bring industry and military together for informative discussions and keynote addresses.

Highlights included a panel discussion on ‘Future of Warfighting’ with speakers including The Royal Navy Second Sea Lord Vice Admiral Martin Connell and a keynote speech on ‘The Future of Naval Forces’ from US Navy Chief of Naval Research,  Rear Admiral Lorin Selby.

Key topics of discussion included international partnerships/alliances, interoperability, the pace of change, improving maritime domain awareness, consistency in peacetime work to ensure military capability when it is needed, operating in a contested environment and future power/energy.
