UKDSC is supporting the Defence and Security Accelerator on the Innovation Fund Challenge “Revolutionise the Human Machine Relationship for Defence”.

The role of the UKDSC is to maximise innovation exploitation by catalysing the formation of new value chains and aligning investment.

The Innovation Fund Challenge “Revolutionise the Human Machine Relationship for Defence” has recently been competed for Phase 1 proof of concept projects. A significant number of proposals have been funded, many from SME suppliers, many of whom are new to the defence sector.

As part of this project, a collaboration event has been scheduled for 14th June in the Chelsea Harbour Hotel in London:

At this event all of the suppliers will be invited to present short “elevator” pitches about their companies and proposed project. This is to increase mutual awareness and to stimulate formation of teams to support the submission of Phase 2 proposals by the Phase 1 winners.

There is the opportunity for external organisations to participate in the collaboration event. It is envisaged that these organisations will either be:

  1. Positioned in the value chain to work with the suppliers to exploit the output, or
  2. Investors who maybe interested in investing in the company to further develop the outputs.

At the collaboration event is expected that external attendees will:

  1. Contribute to the event brochure outlining who they are and what their interests are.
  2. Make an 3 minute elevator pitch on the value that they could bring to a Phase 2 proposal submitted by a Phase 1 winner (format to be provided)

10 external places will be available to attend this event and we expect that these places will be over subscribed.

Interested parties are invited to submit a request for attendance outlining how and why they can contribute to the exploitation of this challenge by 17:00 on 2nd June to: innovation@ukdsc.org.

The Defence and Security Accelerator will assess these requests and attendees will be selected based on relevance. Successful attendees will be notified no later that 17:00 on 7th June.
