Gavin Williamson MP, Secretary of State for Defence, visited the UK Defence Solutions Centre (UKDSC) on Wednesday 20 December, 2017.
During his visit, Defence Secretary Williamson unveiled a three-pronged refresh the Defence Industrial Policy. He made a short speech and took part in a question and answer session.
In addition, the visit enabled the Defence Growth Partnership (DGP) to be witnessed in action; with Government, Industry and the DGP teams all working collaboratively to host an innovation showcase. A number of defence Primes and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) exhibited their innovative solutions for defence, and had the opportunity to discuss these solutions with the Defence Secretary.
Sir Brian Burridge, UKDSC Chairman said ” It was particularly fitting that the Secretary of State chose to release the refreshed Defence Industrial Policy here at the DSC given its emphasis on innovation its vision for a Global Britain. The DSC was created in order to accelerate the passage of innovative technology and leading-edge capability to our international partners and customers, thus contributing to the prosperity of our Nation.”
