UKDSC Hosts Technology Event for the Defence Growth Partnership

In the first of its kind, the UKDSC hosted an event for the technology leads of the Defence Growth Partnership. The prominent, key strategies of UK industries in commercial subsea markets were presented.

The Oil and Gas Technology Centre, the National Subsea Research Initiative and Subsea UK  presented the dynamism of their industry and their strategies going forward for further autonomous subsea operations. Representatives from the MOD and various funding bodies were also in attendance.

The UKDSC’s strategy for cross-industry workshops and road-mapping were presented and discussed. Workshops will be planned across four underwater themes: A1 Sensors, A2 Power & Comms, A3 Deployment and A4 Operations.

The four EPSRC funded Quantum technology hubs were also presented by the University of Glasgow, the leader of the QUANTIC hub. Quantum research is another area where the UK excels worldwide.

Opportunities for research crossover into underwater autonomy were also presented and discussed. The UKDSC look forward to progressing this theme further throughout 2018.
