Between the 1st-3rd March 2022 UKDSC will be supporting an industry engagement event alongside DE&S, StratCom, DSTL, and DIU. The event is aimed at discussing the challenges faced by defence and other sectors in unlocking and exploiting the stratosphere. As part of the event, industry and academia may be given the chance to hear about a potential UK Government-backed Cross Sector Innovation (CSI) challenge within the High Altitude Intelligence domain. This challenge would seek to complement the UK’s expertise in the development of fixed-wing High Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS) by supporting UK industry and academia to develop innovative solutions to overcome the limitations of existing HAPS payload and processing technologies (with a focus on those used for communications and sensing). The challenge would seek to foster collaboration across sectors to maximize cross-fertilisation of expertise and technology, and to maximize the exploitation opportunities arising from the resulting innovations. During the industry engagement event, industry and academia would have a chance to provide feedback on the potential challenge topics and scope, and to discuss potential collaboration with fellow industrial and academic organizations.
The event is in its early stages of planning and we will provide more details in the new year, however at this stage we are looking for you to indicate that you are interested in this event. It is anticipated that interest in this event will be high and therefore we are limiting spaces per organisation at 2 (one of which must be of suitable technical SQEP). We hope that this event will take place in person in Dorset UK, however due to the uncertain times that we live in a virtual event will be planned in parallel. Please indicate your interest by clicking the link below and completing the form.
