In December 2022, the Japanese government authorised three significant security documents which indicates a major shift in their post-war defence policy. This is most likely a response to the heightened global tensions, and more specifically the deteriorating relationships within the Indo-Pacific region. As a marked difference to their old approach, these three stratagem encompass desires for the acquisition of new and enhanced military capability alongside greater investment in the sector.
